The Stream of Consciousness is a performance show in two acts. Music, drama and dance will exchange to describe a journey through Dublin, a 3D visual projection of Dublin will be the background. The soundtrack will be performed by Julyo&thePhotosonic Orchestra.
The first act opens with the Arabic morning, images of a Far East's morning starts the journey of the protagonist.
Dublin becomes the protagonist in the words and voice of Laura Ann Brady, the streets, corners and old buildings become an integral part of the acting, the images are mixed with music notes to reflect the thoughts and considerations of the wanderer.
Laura - the Irish interpreter of the spirit - is the soul that enter into the most intimate part of Joyce's Dublin capturing aspects of paralysis and constraints of time also identifying with the dark and perverse sides of it.
In the lyrics Laura sings the paralysis and contradictions of Dublin, the voice over will introduce step by step new scenarios.
Religious dogmas, the British rule, dark powers that dominate the social and political scene of the city serve as the backdrop to a dark and perverse Dublin where alcohol, death and sins are living in symbiosis.
The brothel of Bella Cohen ends the journey through the streets of the old port and leads the character within the Prospect cemetery. The death is described with an irreverent and disrespectful attitude, love among the graves goes to close the first act.
The voice over in Gomorra will be the opening of Act II, starting the vision. Laura finds herself from the Prospect cemetery's gates to the beaches of Dublin, images of death and desolation become the scene of the introspective journey of the protagonist who, having laughed at death, is dying itself by putting an end to the vision.
The scene returns within the walls of the cemetery where the character is confronted with the vision of her own death, then she realizes that the reality in which she was immersed during her journey has become her coffin.
The vision of her death and the inability to accept it awakes the spirit of the character, understanding the necessity to emerge from that reality to embark on a new journey and break free from the paralysis and constraints that dominate and make gloomy the outlook of life.
Once again are the pages written by Joyce that help and accompanies the protagonist in her awakening. In the final pages, distinguished by no punctuation and total freedom of words use, no longer constrained by the limits of syntax and logic, shows the possibility of liberation from the constraints of moral, social and political boundaries and the idea that Ireland may be a country that finds its lost identity when was subjugated by England and by religion in its deepest roots.
At the end of the representation Laura finds herself being the expression of the Dublin of today, a cosmopolitan and modern city, which was left behind the paralysis the contradictions of the past.
